EVENTS
Every day at Avoda is special, but some are out of the ordinary! Water slides on the main field, inflatable jousting and theme days are all part of the summer fun.
But the fun doesn't stop there! Camp Avoda is also your gateway to adventure sports, exhilarating field trips, specialty themed days, and so much more. With endless opportunities for exploration and excitement, every day is a new adventure!

EVENING ACTIVITIES
Every night except Friday, there is a special activity where the whole camp comes together. It could be Flagrush (our version of capture the flag), Zooball (a unique game only played at Avoda that’s like a combination of soccer and rugby), or Dead Zone (Flagrush and Zooball being played on the same field at the same time!). Non-athletic activities include talent shows, special guest entertainers (like magicians, pro wrestling, mentalists, or basketball trick shows), and bunk night (where each bunk gets to choose what they want to do or challenge another bunk).
July 4th
Independence Day is a very special day at Camp Avoda. We have an amazing carnival filled with special treats and fun games. At night, we have a very special chip ceremony around a bonfire where one representative from each bunk shares what camp means to them. The evening always ends with popsicles and a spectacular fireworks display over Lake Tispaquin.
Battle of the Super Teams
The highly anticipated two-day event takes place early in the summer while Bunk 14 is away on their overnight. It gives the boys in Bunk 12 a chance to lead the camp in their absence. The camp is separated into two teams that compete (by division) in a variety of sports and activities. It’s like a mini Color War (see below).
Bubba Day
Every year, we celebrate the late, great Avodian Adam “Bubba” Miller with a day of all-out fun. We start the day with his favorite song “Sweet Caroline” instead of reveille. We have special treats and celebrate with a carnival where we play on inflatable bouncy houses, do inflatable obstacle courses and try fun activities like wrestling in inflatable sumo suits.
DESERT WAR
The highlight of first session is Desert War – an all-day flagrush using the entire campgrounds where everyone is split into two teams. It’s always a epic battle of strategy and athleticism.
COLOR WAR
This 7-day competition between Blue and White is the culmination of the entire summer where everyone competes across all activities for eternal bragging rights. Every sport is played along with every activity (from canoeing to archery, freshman frog hunt, even poker). There is spelling bee, speech competition, track & field and swim meets, dramatic performances, and a songfest. After 7 hard fought days, the winner celebrates with a much-deserved victory lap and a jump in the lake!
