Where Jewish Tradition Meets Camp Spirit
JEWISH LIFE

There’s never been a better time to connect your family to a wider Jewish community, and at Avoda we understand and embrace the diversity of the Jewish people. There is a real sense in which sending your child or teen to Jewish summer camp can not only make them stronger and prouder as Jews, but also more compassionate, knowledgeable, and respectful human beings.
Our kosher meals are a cornerstone of our commitment to Jewish tradition, beginning with blessings like the motzi and concluding with birkat hamazon. Shabbat services take place in our serene lakeside outdoor chapel (with our own custom Avoda-style prayer books), nestled amidst majestic pines, offering moments of reflection and connection. Havdalah and Tisha B’Av services are deeply meaningful, as is our annual pilgrimage to Israel for staff and alumni.
Rooted in pluralism, Camp Avoda is not affiliated with any movement or denomination. We’re proud to create an environment where everyone, regardless of their level of observance, feels comfortable and connected to their Jewish identity. From spirited Shabbat celebrations to engaging discussions, we weave the tapestry of Jewish culture into the fabric of everyday camp life in a way that feels fun, not forced.
