Summer Camp is good for Jewish kids and their families. “Summers at overnight camps are packed with a wide range of fun activities—aquatics, arts and crafts, basketball and soccer, dance, music, cooking, archery, drama, outdoor adventure and hiking, and much more! Campers are encouraged to discover new skills and interests they never knew they had.” – The Foundation for Jewish Camp
The Foundation for Jewish Camp has teamed up with many communities to create incentive grants for first time campers over the past several summers. Many communities have already used up their “One Happy Camper (OHC) dollars. While they have generously supported families in their areas, The Combined Jewish Philanthropies (CJP) (Boston’s federation) has depleted its resources for 2016.
Camp Avoda appreciates the support of community partners including CJP and The Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island. At this point both of these agencies have depleted their funds. Camp Avoda appreciates community assistance and is pitching in to close the gap by funding OHC incentive grants to families who have no other sources – on their own. Camp Avoda will provide One Happy Camper incentive grants for any qualified camper from a community that does not or cannot fund its campers!
Avoda is a Jewish sports camp for boys. Avoda brotherhood, leadership, spirit, and tradition are among the most distinctive and unique aspects of the Avoda experience. Your son will arrive with uncertain expectations and leave with indelible memories. Campers have fun in a safe and supportive environment while building confidence and character. They will learn to work with others to solve problems and overcome challenges, and be valued for who they are.
There are still selected spaces available for summer 2016.
At Camp Avoda, we encourage you to provide the experience of an immersive Jewish experience for your son. In the words of one Camp Avoda parent, “My camper thoroughly loved his experience at Camp Avoda (the brotherhood, the spirit, the support, the energy, the sense of belonging and about being part of something special). The camp does an excellent job of fostering a great sense of independence in a supportive setting. We loved that the campers form bonds not only with their age group but across other bunks: fostering independence, and providing brotherhood as well as an extended family.”
We invite you to tour Camp Avoda this summer!
See the facilities, meet our staff, and see for yourself why campers keep coming back.
