Paul G. Davis, Executive Director Mr. Davis started his career at Camp Avoda in 1966 as a member of the administration. He was named Camp Director in 1969 and held that position until being appointed Executive Director in 2008. He is one of the longest serving camp directors in the United States and the summer of 2011 will mark his 46th year of continuous service to Avoda. Paul was a music teacher in the Winchester Public Schools for 37 years. He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Boston University. He remains active with the New England Chapter of the American Camp Association (ACA), the Jewish Camp Directors Roundtable, and the Massachusetts Camping Association. |

Ken Shifman, Director Ken Shifman is currently the Director of the camp, a position he began in 2008. Coming back to Camp Avoda is somewhat of a homecoming for Ken after spending 11 summers at Avoda from 1980-1990 as both a camper and counselor. Ken oversees several important aspects of the Camp including programming, staff management and recruiting. Most recently he worked as a technology and marketing consultant and served as a youth-sports director guiding and coaching kids in the greater Boston area. |

Thomas Leavitt, Director of Development and Capital Campaign Tom began his career at Camp Avoda in 1965 as a camper and served as a counselor, CIT Director, and Assistant Director through 1977. In 1982 he was appointed to the Board of Directors where he served until 2005 most recently as board president. Tom founded the Camp Avoda Alumni Association in 1987 and was the driving force behind the creation of the Camp Avoda Archive. A 1977 Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Tom spent 24 years in the printing and publishing business. Since 2001 he has been a development professional serving several non-profit organizations and most recently completed course work with the Fisher-Bernstein Institute for Jewish Philanthropy and Leadership at Brandeis University. |

Jill Shifman Jill Shifman, wife of Director, Ken Shifman, has been a great addition to Camp Avoda! In addition to having two kids at camp, Jill spends the majority of her summers at camp too. She helps wherever she is needed – and is a mother-figure to a lot of the younger campers. Jill is a Consultant with Public Consulting Group and has been there for 13 years. She works with hospitals and health centers ensuring that they comply with government standards and operates as efficiently as possible from a back-end, operations standpoint. |

Bobbie Davis Bobbie Davis, wife of our Executive Director, Paul Davis, has been at Camp Avoda for 43 years. She is an avid photographer and was the camp’s color photographer for many years. She received her undergraduate degree from Oberlin College in Ohio and her Masters degree from Tufts University. She was a high school English teacher in Wayland and in Medford after she graduated from college. After taking many years off to raise her now married children, she joined the staff of the American Camp Association as their camper referral director, a position she held for 20 years. Bobbie is very knowledgeable about most of the accredited camps in New England, even though she is now retired from ACA. |

Adam “Bubba” Miller, Program Director Adam’s spirit and persona resounds throughout camp and beyond. Adam is in charge of programming: regular periods, special days, overnights, trips, and scheduling. Adam knows what makes Avoda tick and just completed his 19th summer! Adam also runs the CIT Program, oversees Athletics, helps recruit campers, and anything else that makes Avoda tick. |
