Health, Safety & Food
Medical
Camp Avoda strictly observes the health and safety standards of the American Camp Association and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. All campers and staff are required to have an updated medical history form on file at camp prior to the start of the season. Health care is supervised by our two registered nurses who reside in our well-equipped infirmary. The four camp pediatricians are always on call, 24/7. Morton Hospital in Taunton, MA, is a 20-minute drive, and the Town of Middleboro 911 emergency response team can be at the Camp in a matter of minutes should such a need arise. Parents are notified in the event their child requires medical attention. The safety of our campers and proper health care are our highest priority at Camp Avoda. Campers are well-supervised throughout their active day, while all staff members carefully monitor campers’ personal health and hygiene. Staff members are trained and certified in CPR and basic emergency first aid.
Food & Nutrition
Our Chef, Scott Rubeck, provides the Avoda family with nutritional and consistently, great food. Don’t miss our great weekly outdoor barbeques (You don’t want to miss our corn-on-the-cob and freshly baked brownies!). All of our meals are kosher, and can accommodate all campers’ other dietary needs including food allergies.
In addition to our chef prepared meals, we always have fresh fruit, a salad bar, fresh baked goods and other camper favorites! Every afternoon, we also have Snack Time where campers and counselors take a break from the day’s activities and enjoy a quick bite to eat.
