Camp Avoda Grandparents Day
Sunday Morning, July 15
10:00 AM to 1:45 PM
Due to the great success of last year’s Grandparents Day, we invite all Grandparents to join us this year.
Recognizing the unique relationship grandparents and grandsons have, we invite our grandparents to join us at Camp Avoda. Though our formal Visiting Day(open to all) is only a week later, this special morning is for campers’ grandparents(and other ‘grand’ relatives) only. Advance registration is necessary.
Schedule
  • 10:00 – 10:30……….Grandparent check-in and reception
  • 10:30 – 10:45……….Grandparent orientation by Avoda leadership
  • 10:45 – 12:25……….Grandparents escorted to grandsons’ activities
  • 12:25-1:00…………..Grandparents meet with grandsons in Grove
  • 1:00……………………Lunch with all campers and staff in the mess hall
  • 1:25 – 1:45 PM……..Personal time with grandson(s) during which he may receive any treats or gifts you have brought
  • 1:45 PM……………..Departure time
Important Notes
  • Advance required for grandparents day.
  • Check-in will not be available before 10:00 AM-no early arrivals please!
  • Grandparents will be escorted by volunteers to watch the activities in which their grandsons and other campers are participating.
  • Personal time with grandsons will take place just before and after lunch away from the bunks and field.
  • Campers will not be excused from their regularly scheduled morning activities.
  • Outdoor seating will be provided.
  • Should you wish to bring some treats to your grandson, we suggest they be in small sealed bags.
  • Due to temperature issues, please avoid bringing any chocolate items.
  • Any treats or gifts for your son will be held for you at check-in and given back to you to distribute to him after lunch.
  • The event will be postponed if poor weather is likely to lead to the cancellation of regularly scheduled outdoor activities. Monday July 18 is the rain date. Should postponement be needed, you will be notified via the email or phone you provided in your on-line registration form.
Your Help
  • We know you will be sensitive to those campers who will have grandparents in attendance.
  • We ask that other relatives enjoy time at camp with campers on Visiting Day, July 22, one week later.
  • We ask that all grandparents depart after lunch so that regualar scheduling may continue.
